save a child,
secure a future
Antara Foundation launched its flagship program “Akshada” in Rajasthan in 2015 and scaled it up by 2018-19 to cover all 46,000 villages with a population of 70 million. Our monitoring data indicates a 60% increase in detection of high-risk pregnancies and a three-fold increase in malnutrition screening.
In 2020-21, we will launch similar programs in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh (population 117 million, accounting for ~20% of India’s infant deaths) with the potential to avert 500,000 new cases of malnutrition and 40,000 high-risk pregnancies every year.
The support we need
Antara Foundation works at the district (~10 blocks) and block (~150 villages) levels, to eventually cover all ~75,000 villages of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. We expect to raise funding for these programs over the next three years, to significantly improve maternal and child health across both states.
